NICK FERDINANDO
Nick is one of the newer members of the team, joining SSCL in 2022 after 14 years with the RNZAF as both an Avionics Technician an Aeronautical Engineering Officer. Nick also recently spent two years abroad during which he held the role of the Type 26Frigate Engineering Manager under development for the Royal Navy.
Nick’s combined experience in both aeronautical and project engineering management enables him to approach technological change from a different perspective, tied in with his network of contacts across the NZDF and wider Allied Defence partners enables him to consider all stakeholder requirements from design, development through to acceptance and operational deployment of these capabilities.
Nick’s recent experience is as a project engineering manager supporting the RNZAF, providing a range of complex upgrades across multiple aircraft fleets. He adapts quickly to rapidly changing environments; undertaking tasks across the full range of aircraft engineering, certification and capability development roles. Nick’s understanding of Systems Engineering and Life Cycle, Certification Requirements, along with his knowledge of Aviation Rules, ensures his proposed solutions fully meet the user’s requirements.
Nick is recognised as a Member of Engineering New Zealand (MEngNZ), and was awarded the Ian James Diamond Memorial Award by the Royal Aeronautical Society New Zealand (RAeSNZ) for Excellence in Aeronautical Engineering and Related Sciences.
